- Campfire will study six established peer organizations to identify proven models in cooperative governance, funding, volunteer and HR coordination, and ecological mission delivery, ensuring we don’t duplicate existing efforts. By learning from others, we aim to collaborate and complement, avoiding redundancy.
- Target Organizations:
- • Mondragon Corporation – A federation of over 70,000 worker-owners governed via democratic “one person, one vote” assemblies, with federated governance bodies, internal finance structures, and mutual support systems.
- • Transition Network – Originating in the UK in 2006, it now supports community-led ecological resilience in around 67 countries with bottom-up governance and climate adaptation hubs.
- • Global Greengrants Fund – A grassroots-driven grantmaker using local advisory panels and participatory decision-making to distribute environmental justice funding worldwide.
- • Nonprofit Democracy Network – A peer-learning network that embeds democratic governance, equity, and participatory practices within nonprofits.
- • Netzkraft Movement – A decentralized German network of approximately 4,400 NGOs collaborating across social, political, ecological, and spiritual domains.
- • Global Tapestry of Alternatives – A South-focused alliance (established 2019) connecting grassroots economic and ecological democracy initiatives through assemblies, knowledge exchange, and mutual aid.
- Deliverables:
- • 6–12 page summary report highlighting transferable models, innovation gaps, and partnership opportunities.
- • ≤ 20‑slide slideshow for Campfire members summarizing methodology, key insights, and recommended next steps.
- Impact:
